During the Pandemic course, I had the opportunity to learn about the COVID-19 crisis from experts of different fields ranging from healthcare, to supply chain, to mathematics, to history, and so much more. Hearing from each of these distinguished speakers broadened my understanding of the Coronavirus on a multifaceted level. COVID-19 clearly had a direct impact on the healthcare system. However, the Pandemic course also highlighted the ramifications within the realm of food supply chain shortages, spikes in unemployment numbers, decreases in pollution in certain countries, and so much more. Participating in this forum taught me the value of analyzing global challenges from both the “big picture” standpoint and a more detail-oriented focus. I have learned that there are many pieces of the COVID-19 puzzle that have been affected, and it’s important to understand how these areas overlap and affect one another. Thank you to the Honors College for providing students with the opportunity to learn more about the COVID-19 pandemic and hear from experts of different fields that provided factual evidence and insight into the current global challenge.
