Gaming and Esports Intern at RedPeg

Author: Jack DeBow, Sophomore Marketing Major

Over the course of my internship at RedPeg Marketing in Alexandria, Virginia, I learned more about marketing than I ever could have imagined. My title during this process was “Gaming and Esports Intern”. This was the position I had applied for to begin with as it’s my goal to work in video game/tech marketing for the rest of my life. I was able to move to and live in Alexandria, Virginia thanks to the Honors College Internship Grant I received. I cannot thank Walton enough for the ability to be in office every day of the week and make important connections that I will utilize for the rest of my career. During the course of my internship, I worked on many presentations to clients, spreadsheets, and business development for the gaming and esports department. The biggest projects I was able to complete with RedPeg were assisting with a Niantic event in Seattle that had over 90,000 guests and was sent out to San Diego with the team to Comic-Con to build and work an interactive zone for the Obsidian Developers game “Grounded” who had over 20,000 guests. I have had such an amazing experience living, working, and building connections in Washington, D.C. over this summer. I can’t wait to come back to campus and share my experience with others!
