Hey there! My name is Hudson Scott, and I am a freshman at the University of Arkansas. I have a had a great time so far during my freshman experience. Choosing where to go to college was a long process for me, but in the end the University of Arkansas stood out amongst the rest. The people here are very welcoming and helpful in transitioning you into college life. I decided to live in the Northwest Quads on campus, therefore I have three roommates instead of two. I knew two of my roommates from my hometown but the third was new. It was nice getting to meet someone different than your traditional friend group. Once I was on campus, I had a strong inclination to get involved to meet even more people. I chose to join Greek Life. I’m currently a pledge with Sigma Pi and I’ve met so many new people so far. I am a history major taking the pre-law track, so my classes haven’t been too hard so far. My favorite class is philosophy, although it is also the most challenging. There is a great amount of support on this campus, however. I’m a member of countless group-me’s and Snapchat group chats filled with other students. We always team up to problem solve and help each other in our classes. I hope to one day attend the University of Arkansas School of Law, so it’s imperative that I make good grades. I always take time every day to catch up on homework and study material from different classes that may be confusing me. College life is better than high school life. It’s nice to have more control over your schedule and the classes you’re taking. It’s a nice feeling of freedom and a taste of what adulthood has waiting for us. I like to take walks around the campus often and explore Fayetteville. It’s a great place to be and there’s so many different things to discover. I like the Razorback Greenway. It’s a long trail that can be used for biking or walking. I like to take one of the rental scooters from around campus and ride the trail. It’s nice to get out often because it gives you chances to meet new people and discover that things that you might not have otherwise known about.
College has been fun, but one of the most crucial skills to master is time management. There can be a lot to keep up with at times, and it’s crucial that you schedule out your days and make time to get everything done. You also need to sharpen your memorization skills. College isn’t like high school where you just sit in a classroom listening to a monotonous lecture. You have to get involved in your classes to truly take in the information that is being given to you and be able to retain it as well. College is experienced differently all over the world, but the best experience will be found at the U of A Fayetteville!
